Ladies Hepburn Shorts goes bananas

Although summer has gone here in Brisbane, I still took the opportunity to sew up a pair of shorts at a recent craft retreat. Summer will come around quickly enough and shorts aren't common place in my wardrobe. I just don't think I have the legs for them anymore. Regardless of this, it gets so hot and sometimes shorts are just a must, especially for camping.

Update: Summer is here and the shorts sat in my WIP (work in progress) pile all through winter. Wondering where my new shorts were NOW that summer is nearly here, I found them at the bottom of the WIP box.

The Ladies Hepburn Shorts by Pattern Emporium have received lots of compliments on the Pattern Emporium Facebook page. All sizes look like they have a great fit and look stylish.

I made up the size 14 using cotton from Lincraft. I graded to a size 16 at the hips and crotch. My version is the one with pockets and back elastic. It was an easy sew, the instructions are simple and clearly written. A beginner would cope well with this pattern as the designer includes full explanation to ensure a good finish (like pressing seams and top stitching).

Sorry you won't see a modeled photo (see the first paragraph regarding my legs) and my note to self is to next time size down to a 12 in the waist and keep graded out to a size 16 at the hips and crotch. At a squeeze, I may be able to squeeze down to a size 14 at the hips. The legs are a bit flared on me, and I think that if I can fit into a size down it will be more flattering. It is hard to see in the photo, but the front has darts and side pockets.

The fabric is printed cotton from Lincraft.
