Moto Maxx Pants by Love Notions

It is trackpants time! For Mr K, I made the pants of the Moto Maxx set by Love Notions in size 10. I omitted the pockets and cuffs and didn't reinforce the knees.

Here is the description:
The Moto Maxx Pants & Tee set is fun and versatile! The two piece set includes a tee with short, long and layered sleeve options along with hemmed or cuff choices and a contrasting yoke. The fun moto-inspired pants can be made from a variety of fabrics, from stable knits to stretch wovens. The slim-fit pants feature reinforced knees with two layers and a fun stitching detail. The pants also feature slash hip pockets, back pockets, a wide elastic waistband and the choice of cuffs or a regular straight hem. If you love the fit but want a quick sew, also included is a plain front pant option. They make great sweatpants using sweatshirt fleece or dress them up by using stretch denim or twill!
The two piece set comes in sizes 2T, 3T, 4T, 5T, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12 & 14.

The pants are nice and snuggly warm. I think the description is very accurate in that they are slim fit. If you want a looser fit, I would do as the pattern suggests and size up and adjust the length accordingly. Next time, I think I would size up for Mr K.
The fabric is stretch fleece from my stash.

Terra Treasures Long Beach Board Shorts

I have a number of patterns in rotation until Mr K reaches about size 12. And then my options will be much less. Are any pattern designers hearing me??????

I had some left over blue denim, so together with a gifted cosmos cotton sheet (or was it a curtain?), I made up another pair of Long Board Shorts. The blue denim is left over from another project (yet to be posted). This time the shorts are in a size 9. Yes, I made them last year in size 8, and then again this year in a size larger. The size 8s are still very much loved and the fish get lots of comments when they are worn out. The previous pair (the fish) are down the bottom of this post.

The only difference, apart from the sizing, is that Mr K insisted to have the elastic go all the way around the waistband. Yet, the other pair were worn without this and as per the pattern (with a flat front). Go figure.

This makes three pairs of Long Beach Board Shorts so far! Not my most used boy pattern, but getting close.

It has been a while between finished projects but another crafty retreat over a weekend provided the opportunity to knock over a few projects. These are the Terra Treasures Beach Long Board Shorts.

I love this pattern comes in up to size 14 so I have quite a few years of use left in it, unlike other patterns that only go up to size 8. I love that the designer recognises that boys and girls are different shapes so has both options in the one pattern and you cut according to gender.

The piping adds a bit of zing. These were cut in size eight so a touch large for Mr K just yet and he hasn't been in the mood to be co-operative and model. Most (all days) he prefers just to wear his plain blue school shorts. Maybe if we have a special occasion he will dress up a bit for me?

I hope to be back one day with modelled shots!

The first pair is using fabric from Spotlight (still available August 2014).

Second pair using quilting cotton from

The cross stitch on the front is one of the (many) stitch options on my sewing machine.
